Road-iQ displays innovative vehicle camera technology to reduce driver blind spots in a variety of driving situations. As industry standards are calling for more cameras to increase driver safety, the Road-iQ system provides a hardware and software platform that can evolve with your needs.
Velvac, the leader in RV vision systems, unveils the enhanced capabilities of Road-iQ, a total RV vision safety and recording technology at this year’s RVIA Show. Attendees in Louisville will be able to see Road-iQ first-hand on a Fleetwood Revolution while visiting the REV Group booth and a hands-on experience at Velvac Booth #48.
“Most people are becoming familiar with 360-surround views on luxury cars, but wonder where this technology is for their RV. I’m thrilled to say that Velvac, powered by Road-iQ, has turned that into a reality.” Said Velvac’s Director of Sales, Paul Hughes.
The first major advancements in the new Road-iQ system are that the 360º Surround View eliminates blind spots with minimal object distortion and records these views continuously.
“The picture clarity is fantastic,” commented Hughes. “especially when you're maneuvering in an RV park or in other tight spaces. It really enhances safety and builds confidence for RV drivers.”
The second advancement is that the Road-iQ system is capable of providing remote monitoring from any location with Wi-Fi connectivity. In short, Road-iQ users can view, playback and record from any camera on their RV from any location across the country.
Coach-Net, a leading provider of RV-specific OEM roadside assistance, and Velvac, Inc., the leader in RV vision systems, have partnered to provide enhanced uptime, safety, and security services to RV owners. The new services were made possible by the product launch of Velvac’s new Road-iQ system. Coach-net utilizes Road-iQ’s 4G LTE cellular services and diagnostic features to offer a cloud-based service program called Smart ProtectSM — the RV industry’s first fully connected vehicle solution.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Coach-Net to bring a new level of connectivity to the RV industry,” said Velvac CEO Jeff Porter. “With Road-iQ and Smart Protect, service and technology connect in real time.”
Velvac will unveil Road-iQ, its ground breaking connected-vehicle platform at this year’s RVIA show in Louisville. Road-iQ brings to motorhome users the connectivity and intelligence they have come to expect from luxury automobiles, but adds enhanced vision, recording, and security features uniquely suited to improving the safety and convenience of the RV experience.
“Road-iQ is a game changer, by offering complete control to motorhome owners. It starts with improved visibility of the areas around the vehicle using Road-iQ’s 360-degree Surround View feature, and then adds the ability to record, playback, and share video from the vehicle’s integrated cameras,” stated Velvac’s Director of Sales, Paul Hughes. “What’s more, it extends those capabilities to controlling motorhome functions from any smart device. Users can even remotely view their motorhome’s cameras and recorded video to insure the safety and security of their pets, property, and loved ones— all in real time.”
Velvac, Inc and Fontaine Fifth Wheel received Heavy Duty Trucking’s Top 20 award for a jointly developed camera based vision system that assists with the tractor/trailer coupling and uncoupling process. The Dual Assist Camera Systemfeatures two video cameras that work together to give the driver a clear picture of both the 5th wheel and approaching trailer. Two cameras are mounted back-to-back behind the tractor’s 5th wheel and wired to a display in the cab — automatically turning on the back-up camera when the truck is shifted into reverse. Cross-hairs in the display assist with the proper alignment to the trailer and, as the kingpin passes over the forward facing camera, the driver is provided with an unprecedented view which assists with the proper coupling and latching of the kingpin to the 5th wheel.
