Control Panel

On every Road-iQ box, there are webpages that can be accessed.  These web pages are served up from the Road-iQ box itself, and not from "the internet".  You need a direct connection to the box to access these pages.

The Control Panel allows the user to
  • Camera Status
  • Recording Status
  • Vehicle Bus Connection Status
  • Change Password
  • Many Other things that aren't relevant here
To access the control panel
  1. Connect to Wi-Fi
  2. Open up a web browser (Safari or Chrome)
  3. In the address bar, type
    1. http://192.168.2.1/
  4. This will take you to the landing page
  5. Click on "Control Panel"

When you enter the Control Panel, you will probably need to log in.  Your username will be either "admin" or "user".  The password was set by the manufacturer or upfitter.

NOTE:  The Admin Password is only meant for configuration and isn't usually supplied to the user.

Navigation Bar
At the top right of your screen, you will see a number of pages (tabs) to visit.

Status Page
The landing page for the control panel is the status page.
This includes a great deal of information, but this section under the heading "System", we find some key info about power management.
  • Time - Displays the internal time of the system.  Most likely set by GPS or iPad
  • Wake Reason - Should be ACC (accessory during normal operation)
  • Shutdown Source - Shows what component initiated the previous shutdown
  • Shutdown Reason - Why the system went to sleep

Video
Pause Recording & Streaming - When selected, all internal recordings will be disabled

Camera Status - Shows if a camera is connected or disconnected
Enable Camera - Only the cameras that are installed should be enabled.
Enable Recording - Shows which cameras to record to the USB drive

Wi-Fi
This page lets you configure the Wi-Fi AP and set the password

We recommend the AP Security Passphrase be updated if you are using the default address.  Please keep track of the new password.

WARNING:  Do not disable the Wi-Fi if you don't have ethernet access to the box.

Hotspot
Most systems do not have the hotspot enabled.
If you are paying for the hotspot and have issues connecting, please contact Velvac support
Storage
When the system is set up for recording, this page tells you the status and health of your USB drive

In this example, you see the mass storage device "sda1".  When installing a new storage device, you must make sure the "Recordable" check box is "Enabled"

Long Term Storage shows the status of indexing and the video files.  They are stored locally on the Road-iq until they can be safely written to the drive.

Users
This page is primarily used to set or change your user and admin password

For new installs, the passwords will not be set.  You will be prompted to set them upon entering the control panel
